Bushy Park contains a number of lakes of which can fish in and some that you can not. The lakes are typical park lakes, with a consistent shallow depth across them. The lakes are all fed by water from the River Thames which does tend to keep them well oxygenated.
The lakes hold good numbers of fish and depending on the lake you fish they can hold Carp up to 40lb.
There are three lakes that you can fish, the Diana lake which is in the centre of the large roundabout and contains the largest Carp. Heron lake is probably the largest and most difficult to fish with its many snags and islands. Again this has Carp to over 30lb. The leg of mutton lake is furthest from the car park and contains Carp up to 20lb, this is one of the easier lakes to fish but contains few features so locating where the fish are is a real challenge.

Fishing is only allowed with an annual permit. As this is a royal park - failure to produce a permit or fishing in restricted areas can be dealt with via arrest and court - yes this really does happen, so be warned!
The scenery here is possibly some of the prettiest of all of the waters in London and deer will come right up to anglers, though you need to be wary during the rut when Stags start fighting, people have be thrown into the lakes before by testosterone fuelled stags during this time.

Update: Diana Fountain is to remain closed for the 2012-2013 season.

Heavy ground baiting not essential.

Maggot on light feeder tackle can produce smaller carp and good heads of bream. Float fished over bed of sweetcorn, with corn and worm bait can produce double figure carp.
Surface fished baits esp bread and chum mixer effective in warmer weather, particularly when fished at distance.
Simple ledgered Pellet or Boilie will all catch Carp.

Note: No night fishing is allowed

Landing nets and unhooking mats must be carried and used by anglers

Boilies & pellets good for carp, all types work though fish based ones tend to produce more in warmer weather. Maggots will catch all species there and often work when other baits are failing. Floating bread or biscuits do work but will attract the ducks so often difficult to fish

Leg of Mutton Lake - average size is double figures

Fished the Mutton lake today for a couple of hours, the carp in there are now all around the double figure mark, with a 10lb average size for the Commons. There is a large head of Carp visible if its sunny and there is little breeze, but just because you can see them doesn't mean they are easy to catch! If you want to try for the large carp you need to fish the lake next to the car park, but be prepared to blank. There are a much lower number of Carp in this larger lake, but when you do get a run it could be a 30lb'er

Good fun

I was fishing here the other day on the leg of mutton lake. As it was a sunny sunday it was really busy. Fished near the lilly pads on at the wall of the lake. A group of young lads were storming it on catching Carp, I saw them get about 10 in the few hours I was there. It really was all about location that day with other anglers on the lake struggling to get a run. It's a really good venue, but has got a lot busier since the Diana Lake is still closed to anglers. Also getting a car parking space can be a long drawn out process on a busy weekend day.

Big carp

The priness diana lake has some really large carp in it but is currently closed to fishing while they are doing some work on it. The second lake does hold a few 30lbers but catching them can take a lot of hard work.

bushy is brill

Excellent venue that offers you the chance to catch big carp while having deer wandering over to you. Watch out though in the Rutting season as the Stags will charge at you if you get too close!
