Details:
There are 6 lakes on Hampstead Heath that you are allowed to fish Vale Pond, Mixed Bathing Pond, Hampstead No2, Viaduct (red arches), Mens Pond, Boating Pond. Though fishing of the bathing lakes is not really possible. The main fishing lakes are towards the lower part of the Heath towards Parliament Hill and Hampstead Heath overland station. The lakes are fairly shallow and access to only certain parts of them is possible.
You will find anglers fishing the main lake most times of the year and catches vary, but sport can be good if you do not get hassle from people throwing in sticks for their dogs to swim after.

Tactics:
The lakes are shallow and weedy and finding a decent peg can prove difficult. Float fishing can produce the results if you can cast to the deeper water or far enough from the noisy banks. Light ledgering tactics will produce bites, but the weed and silt at the bottom of the lakes can hide baits from fish.
Small floating baits will work, but difficult to get these out to the spots without using controller floats..

Baits:
Small bits of floating crust can tempt the occasional Carp otherwise maggots, worm, bread flake and sweetcorn will produce bites.

Costs:
TBC

Get here early

The lakes that are split by the path are probably the best for fishing, but get here early. I've had some decent Roach on breadflake and there are good Perch in here if you fish worm. I would not bother fishing here at the weekends or later in the day as it just gets too busy

Dogs are a problem

I tried fishing one of the lakes on the Heath, got a few Bream and Roach out, but the amount of people throwing sticks into the water for their dogs and ruining my swim made it very difficult. The other lake that is split by the main walkway looked a better choice.
